So, a departure from the usual fayre, here's my 6mm Spartan Army. The miniatures are produced by
Baccus6mm Miniatures, run by Peter Berry, whom I've known for nearly 30 years.
Each unit is on a 20x60mm base |
I started painting these some time ago, but I got a final push to finish them when I took them on holiday to Greece :) As they're so small, I had everything (paints, little men, glue, brushes etc) in a box about 20cmx20cmx10cm.
Light troops advance in front of the massed phalanxes |
I did try to put some detail on the Thracians |
Thracian Peltasts clear the way for their Spartan employers |
Ranks of Spartan warriors |
The army advances |
Massed Hoplites |
Cavalry on the flanks |
The Archers hide among the shrubs, taking aim at their opponents |
Javelineers form a skirmish screen |
Javelins from above, with the sun on their backs |
Attaaaack! |
Rays of sunlight glint off polished shields |
Archers, Peltasts, Hoplites |
Mercenaries add to the throng |
Rank after rank |
I tried to get as much variation on the basic Greek 'Lambda' theme as I could |
The 'white unit' and the 'yellow unit' |
General's Eye-View |
The cavalry pass by in the sun |
These are tinier than a penny - about 10mm tall when mounted. |
And on the cavalry come |
Another close up of those Peltasts |
Quite pleased with these 'Army shots'. Next time I'll show some of the individual units and give you a better idea of the scale |
Excellent work Pete! You may be slow to start, but it's well worth it when you get going.
