This model's spear has been replaced at some point, but otherwise he's the same miniature I painted in the early eighties. The purple was an experiment with gouache, which is quite nice for blending as it stays wet, but it's not as strong as acrylic, as you can see from the chipping on the back of the cloak. The gouache is tricky to varnish too - several reasons not to use it on miniatures :)
